Installation of new Outdoor Exercise Equipment

Consultation has concluded

Council will be installing new outdoor fitness equipment in several parks across the Tweed Shire between November 2019 and April 2020.

Background

Council assessed potential sites for new outdoor fitness equipment and consulted the local community during the development of the draft Open Space Strategy 2019-2029, in November and December last year. During July the community had the opportunity to comment on the draft concept plans.

Outdoor fitness equipment in our parks will help to encourage greater community participation in physical activity and improve community health and wellbeing. The outdoor fitness equipment will be suitable for all ages and anyone wishing to exercise and get fit for free.

Thanks to a $300,000 grant received from the NSW Government, this will provide outdoor fitness equipment in five separate locations.

Whilst other communities like the idea of outdoor fitness equipment, this round of funding has been allocated to the following sites:

Council will continue to seek funding for additional sites across the Tweed in future.
