Community park now open.
The new Jack Chard Park in Tweed Heads is now open and is well used and enjoyed by residents, visitors from neighbouring suburbs and St Joseph’s Primary School students and staff.
Thank you to the local communities in providing input into the playground upgrade at the park. The new and more welcoming and accessible recreational space is a direct result of community input.
The provision of shade was very important to the community. Fourteen new trees were planted for future shade. A second NSW Government grant, through the NSW Community Building Partnership program, will help fund the installation of a built shade structure to be delivered in 2021.
The park upgrade was part of the NSW Government’s initiative to improve the wellbeing of local communities. The Council was voted by the Tweed community to receive the $107,000 grant, funded through the My Community Project, to provide a new Kids Outdoor Gym in Jack Chard Park.
