Draft Tweed Access and Inclusion Plan 2023 - 2026

You are invited you to celebrate the launch of our new Tweed Access and Inclusion Plan 2023-2026. This plan marks a crucial step towards creating a more inclusive Tweed community. Your contributions in the community survey and /or exhibition period were instrumental to inform the Plan. Please join us for a free morning tea as we recognise the collective efforts of our community to shape the plan.

Time: 9:00 am to 10:00 am AEDT (NSW), starting with an Acknowledgment of Country.
Location: Tweed Library Reading Room, Corner of Brett and Wharf Streets, Tweed Heads, New South Wales

Project update 14 December 2023

On 13 December 2023 Council resolved to immediately adopt the final Tweed Access and Inclusion Plan 2023-2026, superseding the previous plan. The Plan will be launched at a morning tea event on Thursday 22 February from 9 am to 10 am.

Project update 9 November 2023

Community consultation is now closed. Thank you to everyone who reviewed the draft Tweed Access and Inclusion Plan 2023 - 2026, attended an information session and shared feedback.

We want you to have your say on a detailed plan which demonstrates Council’s commitment to improving accessibility and inclusion for residents and visitors on the Tweed.

This draft Access and Inclusion Plan 2023-2026 is a result of consultation with the Tweed community including people living with disability, their carers, local disability service providers, peak organisations, Council’s Equal Access Advisory Committee and Council staff over the last 2 years.

The draft plan outlines the actions Council will take to create a more inclusive community across four key focus areas:

1. Developing positive community attitudes and behaviours
2. Creating liveable and accessible communities
3. Supporting access to meaningful employment
4. Improving access to mainstream services through better systems and processes.

We want this plan to be right for everyone. In particular, we want this plan to have actions that will make a positive difference to people with disability in our community.

We invite you to review the draft plan and tell us what you think about the four focus areas and outlined actions for improving access and inclusion in the Tweed. Your feedback will help us finalise and deliver the actions of the new Access and Inclusion Plan.

How to have your say

Have your say by 4pm, 8 November 2023 in one of the following ways:

• Return a hard copy submission. Hard copies of the feedback form can be downloaded from this page and are also available at our Tweed Heads and Murwillumbah Council offices and libraries.

• In person. Meet with a project officer. Drop into the Murwillumbah administration office. Civic and Cultural Centre, 10-14 Tumbulgum Road, Murwillumbah 2484:
  • Tuesday 17 October from 10am to 11am
  • Tuesday 24 October from 2:30pm to 3:30pm

  • Online: Morning session. Thursday 26 October from 10am to 11am.
