This policy guides the sustainable management and activation of Tweed Shire’s community halls. Its aim is to make sure our halls deliver social, cultural and inclusive outcomes, while balancing financial responsibility and long-term care of these important community assets.
The policy is used by:
Community groups managing Council-owned halls under license agreements.
Council staff who oversee community facilities.
Community members who want to understand how halls are supported and used.
Recommended changes to the policy
The policy is being updated to align with strategic planning priorities and provide clarity on the expectations of hall managers regarding facility operations and access.
Why are these changes recommended?
The current policy contains outdated information. Adjustments have been made so the document stays accurate and relevant to the facilities managed under it.
The changes will also make the policy easier to use, clearer for hall managers, and consistent with Council’s current formats, sector standards, and regulations.
What does this mean for the community?
Changes will help to provide clarity for community management around expectations.
