Thank you to residents who provided feedback on the proposed new fenced off leash dog areas in Banora Point (John Baker Reserve) and Bray Park (Bray Park Reserve).


Feedback on the draft concept plans for the fenced off leash dog parks has been reviewed. View the community engagement report and final concept plans under the 'Documents' section.


Two new fenced off leash dog parks

At the second round of community consultation to develop the Open Space Strategy (2019–2029), local communities were asked to prioritise the local actions. This ensured that local residents had input into open space decision making for their local area. It also addressed the local community needs and aspirations unique to each area. The community prioritised the following projects.

The proposed site for Banora Point’s regional off leash dog area is illustrated below, with a total fenced off leash dog area of 7,600 m2.

What's new for Banora Point regional fenced off leash dog park

  • Perimeter fencing with 2 double gate entrances and holding areas
  • Two separate play areas for smaller dogs (area of 3,000 m2) and larger dogs (area of 4,600 m2)
  • In each of the off leash dog areas there will be:
    • dog agility equipment (e.g. tunnels, bridges, balance beams)
    • internal pathways
    • drinking fountains with dog bowls and new water connection
    • waste bags and bins
    • picnic tables and shelter, bench seats and seats with back and armrests
    • new signage at entrance defining fenced off leash park rules
    • service maintenance gates
    • informal off street car parking
    • significant tree planting for future shade.
  • Stage 2 works will include an upgrade to the informal car park and improvements to pathways linking to Darlington Drive. Stage 2 works will be scheduled in conjunction with the upgrade of Amaroo Park to a family district park and playground.
