The North Coast Regional Plan 2036 (Regional Plan) identified that three quarters of the North Coast's population growth over the next 15 years will take place in the Port Macquarie-Hastings, Coffs Harbour, Lismore and Tweed local government areas.

The regional cities in these areas will play key roles in delivering the diverse housing, services and jobs needed to support this growth.

The NSW Government and Tweed Shire Council have worked together to develop the Tweed Draft Regional City Action Plan 2036 that aims to build a city that champions good design, the environment and cultural heritage so Tweed Heads can become NSW’s great green city.

The Tweed Draft Regional City Action Plan will guide development over the next 20 years and transform NSW’s northern gateway into an exciting regional city bursting with jobs, investment and a vibrant lifestyle. To help finalise the plan, the Department of Planning, Industry and the Environment (DPIE) want to talk with local community ‘champions’ about the vision for Tweed Heads to become NSW’s great green city and the roadmap to get there together.
