What we want to achieve

The desired outcome of the masterplan project is to develop a shared vision for the 6 key open spaces in Pottsville and to inform applications for funding in the future.

Developing a masterplan for Pottsville’s open spaces is a key actions in the Open Space Strategy (2019–2029).

What is a masterplan?

A masterplan is a long-term vision for how an area can be cared for and/or developed into the future.

A masterplan may express how an area can grow and change over time. It can also express a commitment that an area remains the same or be preserved.

Basically, the masterplan expresses 'the plan' for the area. It's often implemented using a staged approach with certain aspects of the plan implemented as funding becomes available.

Why a masterplan for Pottsville’s open spaces?

Pottsville is a beautiful coastal town, well-loved by the local community and enjoyed by an increasing number of visitors each year.

The idea to draft a masterplan for Pottsville’s open spaces arose during the development of the Open Space Strategy (2019–2029).

The Pottsville Open Space Masterplan aims to maintain and improve the quality of public open space and recreation opportunities. It’s a chance to look at what’s working, what can be improved and rethink how some of the key open spaces are used.

What happens next?

• Feedback will inform a draft masterplan
• Development of a draft masterplan that will be placed on public exhibition seeking further feedback from the wider community
