Public feedback on the draft Planning Agreement Policy has now closed. All submissions received during the exhibition period are being evaluated. Where appropriate, updates will be made to the draft to reflect the contributions received.
The final version of the policy will be presented to Council for adoption. Once endorsed, the outcomes of the consultation process will be published here.
About the project
The community was invited to provided feedback on the draft Planning Agreement Policy, which aims to provide a clear and consistent framework for negotiating, preparing and executing planning agreements in the Tweed.
Planning agreements are voluntary arrangements between developers and Council that deliver public benefits such as infrastructure, land or other community assets as part of development proposals.
What's proposed
Council is proposing to adopt a new Planning Agreement Policy that will:
establish a transparent and accountable framework for planning agreements
ensure infrastructure delivery aligns with community needs and strategic plans
provide clear guidelines for negotiation, execution and reporting of planning agreements
support innovative and flexible approaches to delivering public benefits
improve transparency and public access to Planning Agreement information via a public register.
