Project update 18 December 2023

The Community Survey Summary Report is now available to review. The report provides a summary of the findings from community engagement undertaken through Stage 1 of the Hasting Point Headland Management Plan. The survey was live on Your Say Tweed from 3 May to 31 July 2023, and hard copies were made available at Council office buildings. Overall, 371 participants completed the survey.

Hastings Point headland

Help shape the future of Hastings Point headland.

What do you love about the Hastings Point Headland, and how do you imagine a well-loved and well used Hastings Point Headland would look like in the future? We want to understand what matters to you.

The Hastings Point headland and adjacent Cudgera Creek are beautiful natural environments, loved by the local community and enjoyed by an increasing number of visitors each year.

The development of a Hastings Point Headland Management Plan will improve the quality of this public open space while protecting the natural environment and cultural heritage values of the headland, now and for future generations.

Hastings Point headland management plan

The Hastings Point headland management plan will take into account the impact of visitors on sensitive coastal species, ecosystems, cultural heritage and landscapes, and will support use of and protect the environmental, recreational and cultural values of the Hastings Point headland area. The management plan aims to:

• outline the overall vision for management of the Hastings Point headland
• provide a summary of current and future issues for the area
• include plans and details of proposed actions that will be taken to address these issues
• establish an implementation plan that prioritises issues with an approximate cost estimate for actions.

What area is included?

The project area includes the Hastings Point headland and carpark, Fig Tree Park, Cudgera Creek Park, the Cudgera Creek (downstream of the Tweed Coast Road Bridge), the rocky foreshore surrounding Hastings Point Headland, and the land from the carpark at Peninsula Street to the northern side of the creek mouth.

• Tweed Aboriginal Advisory Committee
• Tweed Coast and Waterways Advisory Committee
