The Tweed Events Strategy 2024-2028
The draft Tweed Events Strategy 2024-2028 was tabled at Council's meeting of 20 June 2024, where it was resolved to place the Strategy on public exhibition for a period of 28 days, with receipt of submissions accepted up until 42 days from the date of exhibition.
The new four-year Events Strategy builds on the work undertaken in 2022 and is informed by Council's Community Strategic Plan 2022-2032, North Coast Destination Management Plan 2022-2030, and the revised Tweed Destination Management Plan 2024-2030.
Council, at its meeting of 15 August 2024 endorsed The Tweed Events Strategy 2024-2028 to guide planning of events.
Events Sponsorship Policy v4.1
The rewritten draft Events Sponsorship Policy, Version 4.0 was tabled at Council’s meeting of 20 June 2024, where it was resolved that Council "exhibits the draft Events Sponsorship Policy, Version 4.0 for a period of 28 days and accepts public submissions for a period of 42 days, as per Section 160 of the Local Government Act 1993."
This follows a review of the process of providing both financial assistance and resource support to event organisers so as to align that with the strategic priorities of the draft The Tweed Events Strategy 2024-2028. The review resulted in the development of a new Events Sponsorship Policy which provides a framework for Council to offer financial assistance to attract, support and deliver events that are safe, sustainable and uniquely Tweed.
The draft Events Sponsorship Policy, Version 4.0 was placed on public exhibition for 28 days, commencing 3 July 2024, with submissions accepted for 42 days up until 14 August 2024. No public submissions were received.
Council, at is meeting of 15 August 2024 adopted the Events Sponsorship Policy, Version 4.0.
On 28 January 2025 the application process was amended to reflect out of round applications, and the assessment process amended to clarify the appointment of two Councillor representatives, and the option for a Councillor workshop. Refer attached Events Sponsorship Policy, Version 4.1.

Events build a vibrant community and play an important role in making the Tweed a great place to live and visit.
A draft Events Strategy 2024 - 2028 and draft Events Sponsorship Policy have been developed to help deliver and attract the right events and determine how Council will support these events.
Draft - The Tweed Events Strategy 2024 - 2028
The Tweed Events Strategy guides the sustainable growth, development, and delivery of events that are the right-fit for the region and uniquely Tweed. This means they celebrate our natural environment, lifestyle, and culture, align with our community values, and showcase the Tweed’s hero experiences. The draft has been informed by the community, local event organisers and stakeholders who took part in interviews, consultation sessions and workshops.
Draft - Event Sponsorship Policy
The draft Event Sponsorships Policy supports The Tweed Events Strategy and determines which events will be supported by Council and outlines the assessment and eligibility criteria, guiding principles, and conditions of funding.
