Help shape the future of events in the Tweed
We have drafted a new Events Strategy that aims to generate and enhance community pride by building our profile and attracting the right type of events, at the right time of year, that support our economy and align with our community values.
Regional tourism and event consultancy Tilma Group were appointed to assist in setting the Shire’s event direction for the next four years by aligning events with the desires of the community. As part of the review process, the consultant engaged with key stakeholders through interviews, consultation sessions and workshops.
Community input was also invited to help inform the discussion paper that was prepared for Council’s consideration in February 2022. From the discussion paper a draft strategy was developed that reflects the views and expertise of stakeholders on the issues and opportunities facing event growth, development and attraction in The Tweed. It outlines strategic priorities and an assessment framework for events as the basis for increasing the value of events for the Tweed Shire.
What's next?
Community feedback is being reviewed and will be included in a summary report with recommendations for a Council decision.
