New Park upgrades & Playground for Eunga St Park, Tweed Heads South

New playground to be installed in Tweed Heads South

Eunga Street Park in Tweed Heads South will soon receive a significant upgrade thanks to a grant from the Department of Family and Community Services. It is just one of the parks to benefit from grants to improve open space and recreation within the Tweed.

Works on the Eunga Street Park will commence in April, with the project scheduled to be completed by late May 2019.

The features of the new park design at Eunga Street are the direct result of community input. The local community shared their ideas on what features they would like to see in the park as part of a Council-run family fun day late last year.

The final concept design includes the following improvements:

  • Access for people with a disability or mobility impairment
  • Seating and picnic areas
  • Monkey bars, swings and a slide
  • Scooter track and pathways
  • Natural play elements and green open spaces
  • Curved pathways and integrated natural elements

Existing mature trees will be protected and additional tree planting in the park will provide much needed shade.
