You are invited to provide feedback regarding the proposal to amend the Code of Meeting Practice.

The proposal to amend the Code of Meeting Practice to incorporate a requirement to webcast (broadcast over the internet) meetings of the Council and of Committees whose membership is made up only of Councillors.

Why Webcast?

Tweed Shire Council will commence webcasting Council meetings in order to comply with the new requirements of the Model Code of Meeting Practice for Local Councils in 2018.

Webcasting Council and Committee meetings increases the transparency of Council decision making and allows access for members of our community who are unable to attend in person.

As Council conducts meetings at the Murwillumbah Civic and Cultural Centre, and at the Tweed Heads Civic and Cultural Centre, both locations are being upgraded to allow webcasting to occur.

A webcast of the recorded Council meeting will be posted to Council’s website the following day, a delay of less than 24 hours, to allow for the minutes to be uploaded at the same time as the webcast.
