Tweed Shire Council is currently working on a concept design for a model affordable eco-housing project in the Wardrop Valley near Murwillumbah.

Community and industry representatives are invited to express their interest in joining a Community Reference Group to provide information, advice and views to Council concerning the Wardrop Community Village project. Its purpose is to inform the structure planning design process and enhance Council decision making about the project.

Applications are open to all people who are willing and able to represent the community or industry in providing ideas, feedback and information to inform the next steps of the project should it secure Council support.


Community Reference Group members must meet at least one of the following criteria

  1. Demonstrated experience and expertise in sustainable home design and/or eco-village models.
  2. Demonstrated experience and expertise in social housing, affordable housing and/or homelessness.
  3. Represent a particular community or industry relevant to the proposed project.

Members of the Community Reference Group will be required to:

  • Attend six Community Reference Group meetings between March and June 2020.
  • Share their relevant experience and knowledge.
  • Provide feedback and advice on a range of issues related to the project.
  • Represent the interests and views of the community/sector they represent rather than individual interests.
